Top and Bottom layers not printing

I haven’t printed in a while, so I downloaded the latest Flux Studio, and even upgraded my Flux to Delta+ with the kit so kindly provided to me. I have set the FS machine setting to Flux Delta+.
However, I’m finding that my prints are not printing the top and bottom layers. My prints are coming out with the infill showing instead. I’ve created a very simple 2mm thick disc with 0.5 mm inset writing on it, and the top and bottom layers are not printing. Same thing on another piece I did.
I’m designing my files in Fusion 360 and exporting as .STL.
The slicer is set to Cura2.
All setting are default, including Layers: Solid Top layer 5, Solid bottom layer 5.
What am I doing wrong?

did you change any of the expert settings?

go to expert in advanced settings and click reset config, see if that helps, i recently had a problem with my printer making two ugly prints because it wasn’t printing the infill, i hadn’t changed any of the settings except the extrusion multiplier, i clicked reset config and that fixed it, keep me updated :slight_smile:.

also are you using the beta flux studio? that was giving me problems with the laser scanning.

try making the disk thicker.

do other thick prints print fine?

No, I’m using the latest “stable” FS. I did another piece that was 0.5 CM thick, and I had the same problem: The top and bottom layers were missing and the infill was visible.
I made no changes to the expert settings at all. The most I’ve done is turn raft and support on and off. For these that have the problem, both are off.

yup that messed it up for me actually, did you try resetting the config? try reinstalling flux studio too. good luck :slight_smile:

also attach the stl file you’re using, do other files work fine? i.e thingiverse

Sorry, I couldn’t see how to attach an STL file in this forum… It will only let me attach image files. Changing the extension doesn’t work.

went well it went well for me, i printed using your fcode, there is a setting for top and bottom layers in advanced > layers. i think you already know this but just make sure its not set to 0. also did you try reinstalling fs? what about other models which aren’t made by you like this: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:763622 ? do they print fine?

btw the text and print doesn’t look that bad, the flash makes it look like that

I reloaded the FS, but no improvement. Front and back look like the infill, the writing is illegible.

wowowowow. ok that’s normal the top and bottom layers are fine, the text is unreadable though, for me it was readable, (the flash didn’t make it look like that). try lowering the speed, i’ll attach my settings and fcode. test printing it now, will update you when it prints.

my top layer is bit cleaner than yours but the bottom one isn’t good cuz it warped a little, my print mat tore and i use glue. the text is slightly better but i think you should increase its size. because at this size the plastic just expands out and kind of has hard stringing because it’s so small. making the text deeper would help too,


in real life it would look prettier than this because you don’t look at it this close. the right side is caused by warping. you don’t have problems with that. try these settings:

i started another print with even more tweaked settings. these are the settings i just used for it. according to me it should work like a charm now if you increase text size.
